As you are drawing you will be inspired by the Blue Dot Ensemble which will be playing music from around the world with the amazing Iana Komarnytska dancing and bringing the music to life! Followed by some Folk, World Grooves by The Lauren Barnett Free For All. 

We will be setting up collaborative drawing tables and will have tons of markers, pencils and crayons to express yourself on paper while listening to some sweet tunes!

The Ismaili Centre Toronto is delighted to announce the return of Bahar: A Nowruz celebration with Blue Dot Ensemble for a second year to celebrate Nowruz and the coming of Spring. The evening will consist of music and dance featuring classic and folklore songs from Persian, Turkish, Kurdish, Gilani and Azerbaijani traditions.

On the Horizon: A world music and dance journey

On our first show at the DROM Taberna, we’ll share our first experiments for a world music and dance opera inspired by folklore and mythology from a numbers of traditions which will debut in 2019. The show is inspired by Joseph Campbel’s ‘The Hero’s Journey’, and we are exploring the connections and common themes across cultures, landscapes and times.

Through Time:  Exploring Music, Dance, Poetry and Imagery from the 13th- 17th Century

“Through Time” is an exclusive performance piece developed for the Ismaili Centre Toronto.  The Blue Dot Ensemble will take the audience on a musical expedition from the 17th to the 13th century showcasing the rich multi-cultural interconnected traditions of the Near East to the West.  The evening performance will explore centuries of music, dance, poetry and imagery from Ottoman court dances to early music inspired by the poetry of Rumi and Hafez.
